ELAD CANADA RELEASES MODEL SUITE

June 02, 2015 – Just released the Model Suite for the Colours Of Emerald City, the first condominium in the community’s highly anticipated second phase. Designed by II BY IV Design, the model suite features fresh and vibrant pops of colour on a neutral background.

The suite takes cues from Emerald City’s public art component by Canadian author and artist Douglas Coupland. Dan Menchions of II BY IV Design said that Coupland’s work was a significant inspiration for the model suite.

“The public art definitely had an influence on our choices,” Menchions said. “As designers, we also see the use of colour as being relevant in all interiors going forward, mainly in artwork and accessories.”

He said the model suite’s bedroom showcases how they use art and colour to make a bold statement.

“The abstract painting over the bed brings together all of the colours in the room, and the large piece on the wall with the abstract human figure is from Japan,” Menchions said. “It speaks to the language of the suite’s decor.”
The bright colours juxtaposed with shades of white and wide-plank, light-coloured laminate flooring creates a unique look. The chic, urban aesthetic continues into the kitchen with wood-grain cabinetry and a subway-tile backsplash.

“This dramatic effect shows inspired purchasers that they can be more eclectic with furnishings. Everything doesn’t have to match,” Menchions said.
The suite also features natural elements, which come as a refreshing sight in the fast- paced, urban setting. Rough, textured knots in the flooring, earthy green accessories in the den and locally-sourced, multi-purpose furniture throughout lend an eco-friendly aura to the design.

Each unit will feature quality finishes like a balcony or terrace, nine-foot ceilings, quartz or granite kitchen countertops and either fully-integrated or stainless steel appliances. The thoughtfully-designed interiors will ultimately be framed by contemporary exteriors by WZMH Architects.

While the building itself is impressive, the surrounding area is equally desirable with Sheppard subway station and Fairview Mall close by. The Parkway Forest Community Centre, set to open this spring, will be a welcome addition to the neighbourhood with its gymnasium, YMCA-run daycare, rooftop garden, outdoor pool and pavilion.
